Booking a group dinner in Provence

  • For groups, agree a fixed menu in advance. Many restaurants close one or two days a week, often Sunday evening and Monday.
  • Dinner from about 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Village restaurants may stop serving early.
  • Tipping: Service is included by law ("service compris"). Leaving a few euros extra for good service is a nice touch, not an obligation.
  • Book two to three months ahead for groups over 20, especially in high season (May to early July, September to October).
  • Ask about deposits, minimum spend and the cancellation policy in writing.
  • Plan transport back to the hotels. Taxis are rare. Book drivers in advance for the wedding night.
