Getting there and around

Arriving: Ngurah Rai International (DPS). Seminyak is 30 minutes away, Uluwatu 45 minutes, Ubud 1.5 hours.

  • Traffic is heavy. Allow twice the time a map suggests.
  • Hiring a private driver for the day is affordable and the easiest way to see the island.
  • Grab and Gojek apps work in most areas, though some villages do not allow app pickups.
  • Many guests rent scooters, but accidents are common. A driver is safer.
  • Bring a sarong for temple visits, and carry cash for small warungs.

Booking rooms for your wedding group

  • Most guests come in high season (April to October). Set up a room block or share hotel picks 9 to 12 months ahead, because good rooms go first.
  • Keep guests in one or two areas if you can. Shared shuttles and meeting points get much easier.
  • You can get around here without a car, so a central base near restaurants works well for most guests.
  • Ask hotels for a group rate with no attrition penalty, a cut-off date about 30 to 60 days before the wedding, and free delivery of welcome bags.
