Getting there and around

Arriving: Asheville Regional (AVL) is 20 minutes from downtown. Charlotte (CLT) is about 2 hours.

  • You need a car for the Blue Ridge Parkway, waterfalls and most venues.
  • Downtown and the River Arts District are walkable or a short rideshare apart.
  • Parkway sections can close in winter or for repairs. Check the National Park Service site.
  • Some trails and roads are still being repaired after Helene. Check before you go.

Booking rooms for your wedding group

  • Most guests come in high season (April to June, September to early November). Set up a room block or share hotel picks 9 to 12 months ahead, because good rooms go first.
  • Keep guests in one or two areas if you can. Shared shuttles and meeting points get much easier.
  • Guests here mostly need a car or a driver. Staying close to the venue, or booking a wedding-night shuttle, saves a lot of late-night stress.
  • Ask hotels for a group rate with no attrition penalty, a cut-off date about 30 to 60 days before the wedding, and free delivery of welcome bags.
